Recently my wife, Pam, lost her billfold at Home Depot. She’d set it down to free up her
hands and then in a moment of distraction left without picking it back up. Upon realizing
what she had done, she began retracing her steps. No billfold. She talked to each clerk. No
billfold. She went to the Lost and Found desk. No billfold. She told me that as the anxiety
over what could happen would build she would remind herself to picture the wallet found and
safely intact. Each time the anxiety would return she’d go through the reminders again and
she would reaffirm, "Nothing is lost in Spirit."
"Nothing is lost in spirit. God is revealing the whereabouts of my good." This is a
powerful denial and affirmation for me. "Nothing is lost in Spirit" is the denial. It
maintains that we will no longer endorse our old ideas about loss. It is likely that in the
past we given power to a belief in losing things, and then we get to live with the
consequences of that belief. We misplace the keys to our car and we might feel a fear that
we are locked out and we will not be able to get where we want to go. We misplace that file
that is so important and we get increasing anxious about trying to find it. And as we get
more anxious we lose touch with the very connection that will guide us to that which we are
seeking.
When we feel that we have misplaced or "lost" something there may well be feelings that
arise that need to be acknowledged. At the same time, it is important to acknowledge what we
do have in the Presence of God as the source of our good. What is truly ours is in our life
because of our consciousness. When we retreat into fear we start closing the door on the
flow of abundant good that is available to us. As we remind ourselves of the infinite good
available to us in this moment then we open the way for the good that is ours to find us
quickly.
God is Spirit and God is all and nothing is lost in the all-ness of God. We are one with
that allness and nothing can stand between us and our good unless we allow it to stand. So
the next time you have misplaced something instead of fretting, I encourage you to pause and
re-establish that connection with the Source and open the door to having it restored
quickly. Oh yes, back to Pam’s wallet. We received a phone call from a woman who had found
it and felt guided to take it home to ensure its safety. All was in place...all was well.
Nothing is lost in Spirit!
In the Spirit,
